The Blame Game...or Not?

For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
- 2 Corinthians  4:17

The story of Joseph in Genesis 37 is one intriguing part of history that presents us with so much lesson to learn and too many things to unpack.

For example, who is  to blame for Joseph's slavery?

-His father who set the ball rolling for his brothers hatred?

-His brothers who hated him so much they wanted him out of sight?

- The man in the field who showed Joseph where to find his brothers?

-(I'm inclined to believing that that 'man' in the field was an angel or at least God-sent) and if the 'man' is God-sent, is God to blame then?

But on a second thought, if Joseph had spent his time in slavery blaming any of these people mentioned, he probably wouldn't have had his eyes fixed of God or upheld the values of the God of his fathers in a strange harsh land.

Then he maybe wouldn't have gotten immersed and lost in the wantonness and culture of Egypt, and missed out on his glorious future and No 2 in the whole of Egypt and the most powerful man in the world.

So maybe, we shouldn't be lost in the chaos of the moment, and restore to playing the blame game, looking for whose fault it is for what we're going through.

Instead let us learn to be calm and dig deep into ourselves in stillness and quietness to know what the Lord is saying to us in the midst of the noise and chaos.

Lamentations 3:28-30 MSG says : When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer. Don’t ask questions: Wait for hope to appear. Don’t run from trouble. Take it full-face. The “worst” is never the worst.

And 2 Corinthians 4:17 reminds is that our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

So just like Joseph, regardless of the noise, let us not lose focus because of external pressure. Instead let our our eyes be fixed on God and watch his immeasurable plan for our lives unfold and show in due time.

May we have the strength, calm, peace, quietness, stillness and grace to endure and surpass hard times, in Jesus name. Amen.

God bless you!
