Fringe benefits of the Communion

The Flesh and the Blood of Jesus, also known as the Holy Communion is one mystery that has not been fully understood as well in the Christendom as in the non-believing circles. There are divergent opinions about the concept of the Holy Communion and how often it should be taken, that has made it seem 'out-of-reach' to the layman.

However the scripture did not place any cap or duration on how it should be taken. 1 Corinthians 11: 25 rather reveals that we as believers in Christ, are at liberty to take it AS OFTEN AS we drink it : This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. Also, Matthew 26 : 26 shows that Jesus took the bread he used as his body out from the same bread that they were eating from : And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. This therefore validates the flexibility of communion materials: it is as flexible as using the flat wafer and grape drink used in churches as it is using the bread or biscuit and soft drink in your house. Jesus recognizes the hallowedness of the Communion but also made it as reachable and accessible as possible to anyone who desires it. So do not let religious ordinances, customs and traditions, keep you from accessing the innumerable benefits in the communion. Neither let anyone put you under condemnation for taking the communion as often as possible and with whatever food your hand finds.

In the 6th Chapter of John's gospel, Jesus spoke extensively on the benefit of taking his Flesh and his Blood. Here is a list of some of the benefits you have when you take the communion :

1) Jesus Himself - When you take the communion, you literally take in Jesus himself into your system. Jn 6: 33 For the bread of God is HE (Jesus) which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

2) Life : Jesus said in verse 48 : I am that bread of life. so, you take in life when you take in Jesus through the communion. He also said, 'except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you'. So for you to have the real LIFE in you, eating the Flesh and drinking his Blood is a MUST..and he said to do it as oft as you drink it in remembrance of ME. 1 Cor 11:25

3) Fullness and Satisfaction : "...he that cometh to me (Jesus) shall never hunger" Jn 6:35

4) Never thirsty again : "...he that believeth on me (Jesus) shall never thirst..." Jn 6:35

5) Open doors and Arms: "he that cometh to me, I will in no wise cast out" Jn 6:37. When you come to Jesus through his Flesh and Blood, he throw his arms wide open to you and grants you access to unlimited open doors of favor and grace.

6) Everlasting life and assurance of Last Day resurrection: "Everyone that seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting Life : and I will raise him up on the last day.

7) No death, but live forever - If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever. Jn 6: 51

8) His Flesh : When you take the bread of the Communion, you are taking in the literal flesh of Jesus. '' The bread that I give is my Flesh...for the life of the world" Jn 6: 51. So, Jesus gave you his Flesh in exchange for your flesh and your life. As you take the communion-the bread of life- your physical body is literally transformed into Jesus' own flesh. That is why sickness, diseases and sin can no longer survive or penetrate in your body because an exchange of bodies has occurred in your physical body (and you may even realize immediately when it happened!).

9) Real meat and Real meat is what you eat when you partake of the Flesh and Blood of Jesus via the communion. 'For my flesh is meat indeed and my blood is drink indeed' Jun 6:55

10) Deep Fellowship and Intimacy with Jesus : "he that eateth my Flesh  and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me and I in him" Jn 6: 56

11) Living by Jesus : "...he that eateth me, even he shall live by me" Jn 6: 57. When you take the communion, the Spirit in-dwells you and you have life; because Jesus said "the words (including the ones he said about him being the bread and about eating his flesh) that i speak to you , they are Spirit and they are life.

12) Victory over / and destruction of the devil and the power & fear of death  (Freedom from bondage) : Heb 2 : 14-15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

13) His body : Take, eat, this is my body. Mt 26:26

14) His blood : Drink YE ALL of it (so it is for EVERYONE who is in Christ), for this is my blood. Mt 26: 27/28.

15) Remission (forgiveness) of sins: "My blood...shed for many for the remission of sins. Mt 26:28.

16) The new covenant (testament) in his blood- Luke 22:20. This means that his blood contains the new covenant; and whenever you partake of it, you imbibe the new covenant. As such, you are no longer subject to the old covenant anymore or bound by its laws because it has all been fulfilled in the new...which is the blood!

17) Enlightenment : By the reason of taking communion, you gain an opened and sharp understanding and clarity of the mind's eye to know things. Luke 24 : 30-31 tells of two men who didn't recognize that Jesus was walking with them but as He (Jesus) took bread, and blessed it and brake and gave it to them....their eyes were opened.

May you gain clarity of mind and quick understanding as you begin to take the communion with a better understanding, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

God bless you!

On Soul-winning

Proverbs 11 : 30  "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise ."  Soul-winning is simply changing someone else's bad ways, beliefs, and thought process into a godly   one, by pointing them to Christ through the word of God. Whoever that continually perform this act is considered wise.  So, soul-wining is a noble act act of wisdom, and here is why: James 5: 20 said that he which converted the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide multitude of sin. This means that by turning sinners from the error of their ways, you're saving lives and instrumental to protecting them from the harsh punishment of sin.  The golden rule makes provision for you to have exactly what you do to others. so, for every soul you save from death, and sin you cover, your longevity is assured and your sins are covered too; because he that watereth shall be watered (prov 11:25), and blessed is he...whose sin i

A fu ihe ka ubi... (Selling the storehouse)

The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field...and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. -Mt 13 :44-47 "A fu ihe ka ubi eree oba" is an Igbo adage  which loosely translates to : " when one sees what is greater than the farm, he sells  the barn. This implies that when one sees something of high value and important he gives up his 'storehouse' (his entire treasury/savings) to get it....at all cost.  On the face value, this adage feels like just about any other saying, but on a close look, it has a lot deeper implication. 'Oba', which means 'barn', in the traditional Igbo context connotes one's storehouse where they stock up the volume of yams harvested (as yams was one of chief food and yardstick for measuring wealth in the

On Unfriendly People

Hebrews 12: 14  "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:"   At the thought of 'unfriendly people', the first set of image that comes to mind are usually people who are hostile to you, don't like a thing or two about you, can't stand you or just don't relate at all with others in a friendly manner. However, this goes beyond the surface to include those who do not necessarily share the same belief or values system with you; those with the same belief but varied opinion, those who pretend to be friends with you but plot against you, or those who are out-rightly  without ( col 4:5)   and persecute you...etc. The list goes on : all [kinds of] men ; and the opening scripture said to follow peace with them all!  This a rather disturbing instruction, as it could be a bit tasking to constantly keep up peace with someone who clearly do not want peace with you. But here is why it is important: reading do
